What It Is

One of the oldest herbs still in daily use

Withania somnifera, known as Ashwagandha or Indian winter cherry, is one of the cornerstone herbs of Ayurveda. It has been prepared and taken for thousands of years, and it remains one of the most widely used botanicals in the world today — which is a rare thing for a plant with that much history behind it.

Why the root

Ashwagandha products can be made from the root, the leaf, or a mixture of both. Traditional Ayurvedic preparation uses the root, and that is what we use — a 10:1 root extract, where ten parts of raw root are concentrated into one part of finished extract.

  • 10:1 extract from the root of Withania somnifera
  • Vegetable glycerine base — no alcohol
  • 1,000mg in every 1ml serving, 60,000mg in the bottle
  • Non-GMO and vegan friendly, with no artificial colours or flavours

An easier routine than capsules

Ashwagandha is a supplement people take over months rather than days, so how easy it is to take genuinely matters. A dropper into water takes seconds, and there is no tablet to swallow.

Questions

Ashwagandha questions

Root or leaf extract?

Root. This is a 10:1 extract made from the root of Withania somnifera, in line with traditional Ayurvedic preparation.

When is the best time to take it?

There is no fixed rule — pick the time you are most likely to stick to. Some people prefer the evening, others take it with breakfast. One 1ml serving a day, and no more than 3ml in 24 hours.

What does it taste like?

Earthy and a little bitter, softened by the sweetness of the glycerine base. It mixes well into juice or a smoothie if you would rather not take it neat.

Can I take it with Lion’s Mane or Shilajit?

They are separate products and many customers use more than one. If you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are under medical supervision, check with your doctor or pharmacist first.

How long does a bottle last?

Sixty 1ml servings — two months at one a day.
